Naya Kanga Peak Climbing Overview

Naya Kanga Peak, 5844m (19,160ft) is an interesting and appropriate Himalayan peak for an introductory climb in Nepal. The peak is accessible to a wide range of climbers; it is aesthetic and straightforward yet challenging, a perfect objective for a guided beginner climb. The Naya Kanga trekking peak lies in the Langtang region of Nepal. The peak is located at 28°10’06''Nand 85°32’56’'E. Most climbers attempt the peak from the Northeast ridge, which is considered the normal climbing route. The best time of year to climb Naya Kanga is in the spring (April, May) and autumn (October, November) months. This expedition is suitable for trekkers who have less experience, a short climbing period and are looking to spend little money.

Before you arrive in Kathmandu your climbing Sherpa guide and kitchen staff will arrange all the necessary equipment,t leaving only the issuing of the climbing permit to you or your team. To complete the official procedure of the climbing permit the team leader has to attend a meeting at the Department of Tourism (under Ministry of tourism) this meeting is a briefing and the actual issuing of the climbing permit.

After you are issued the climbing permit, it is time to hit the trail. You first enter the Trishuli River and Langtang Valley from Syaphrubesi. This is the simplest and easiest access point to enter the valley from. British mountaineers described the Langtang Valley as the most beautiful valley in the world. Langtang is the second largest national park in Nepal and has healthy rhododendron forests, a tremendous amount of fir, blue pine and birch trees. The diverse wildlife in the park includes leopard, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, rhesus and languor monkeys and the endangered red panda.

The attraction of Naya Kanga Peak is in its low objective climbing danger, moderately steep terrain, accessible routes and the easy and scenic access through the Langtang Region. As per the request of our client,s we can include Yala peak into your Naya Kanga itinerary. We recommend Yala peak as part of our acclimatization schedule because Yala peak is free of any permit fees.

Satori Adventures focuses exclusively on our clients’ success with their climbs, ensuring safety, comfort and an enjoyable climbing experience in the Himalaya.  Satori’s strategy minimises the trekking period and optimises acclimatisation time to preserve energy, an essential ingredient for any climb. Satori Adventures always tries to maximise your holiday time by getting you to your objective promptly. We know that our professional and executive clients have a minimum amount of time away from their busy schedules.

The normal climbing route on Naya Kanga (5844m) is via the Northeast Ridge. It follows from Kyangjin Gumba (3830m) through the Naya Kanga Base Camp (4300 m) and Naya Kanga High Camp (4950m). The climbing route from the high camp is a 2.4km snow-ice ridge route with has 900m of elevation gain and a slope ranging from 25deg to 55deg. Once off the slope and onto the ridge, you encounter terrain at 45 degrees. Naya Khanga Peak Climbing rewards summiteers with spectacular views of the mountains in Nepal and Tibet. Peaks such as: Lantang Lirung (7246m), Lenpo Gang (7083m), Dorje Lakpa (6990m) and Shishapangma (8027m) will be visible.
